Zonta International Chartered November 8, 1919

Zonta International, chartered in 1919, is a global organization dedicated to empowering women. With a strong presence in District 5 and numerous clubs across Ohio, Zonta has a rich history of supporting women at home and abroad through various projects and initiatives. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Zonta is launching the Centennial Anniversary Awards to honor individuals, organizations, and clubs that have made outstanding contributions to empowering women and promoting gender equality. Join Zonta in its mission to create stronger communities for those in need!

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering Centennial Anniversary Awards - Centennial country, district and club awards • Centennial Membership Awards, Centennial Local Service Awards and Centennial Fundraising Awards to empower and honor achievements and excellence. More information about these will be provided in the future. • Districts may choose to make more than one award. • For each Zonta country, there will be one award made. • Zonta clubs are welcome to adapt the model and also choose to present an award in their respective communities.

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering Centennial Anniversary Awards - Centennial Country awards Recognizes one outstanding individual or an organization within a country, that demonstrates outstanding commitment to empowering women through service and/or advocacy. A person or organization that is well-known, recognizable and seen as an advocate for women’s issues. The award should extend Zonta’s reach throughout the country. Guidelines •One award to be presented. •May be presented at a significant event or celebration during the 2018-2020 Biennium, or through social media. •Countries that include more than one district need to collaborate (e.g. through the governors and subsequently the area directors).

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering Centennial Anniversary Awards - Centennial district awards Districts have autonomy in making decisions about their centennial activities with respect to the following - Guidelines: •One or more awards may be presented. •Preferably, a presentation significant event during the 2019 district conference if possible or if not, the awardee should be invited to speak at another event, such as the district conference. •The award can consist of the certificate alone or of the certificate combined with another type of recognition—from a bouquet of flowers to a monetary donation.

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering Centennial Anniversary Awards - Centennial Club awards Recognizes and honors an outstanding individual or business/ organization/ agency in the city/ community with a proven record of empowering women. Focus on an individual or group outside of Zonta to extend our reach in the community and, if suitable, facilitate collaboration. Guidelines •One or more awards may be presented. •Awards may be presented at one time or at several significant times during the biennium. •Awards may be presented at a local club meeting / special recognition event, celebration / or on a significant date. •Certificate (template will be provided by ZI) and, optionally, of any token of recognition.

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering Centennial Anniversary Awards – Champion awards Purpose •This award recognizes an outstanding individual in the city or community who has contributed significantly to empowering women. • Honor one or more individuals who are not necessarily high-profile celebrities in our communities, but the “hidden champions in our community.” • It should focus on someone outside of Zonta and extend our reach in the community. Guidelines •One or more awards may be presented. •Awards may be presented at a local club meeting / special recognition event / or on a significant date(during the Centennial Anniversary biennium 2018-2020)

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering Centennial Grants – • like-minded charity/not-for-profit organizations that partner with a Zonta club to directly improve women’s and girls’ lives in their community. • club selects one project from a partnering organization. Each club can submit only one application. • Applications will be accepted from 15 September 2018 to 31 March 2019. • A total of US$300,000 has been allocated for disbursement of the grants.

Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering District 5 Club Events – Findlay •Paint the intersections on Main Street •Paint windows at Wilson’s, located on Main Street •Article in The Courier, Findlay’s local newspaper •Use of marquee signs of local businesses •Paint ceiling tile in Main Street Deli •Displays at the library, and various other community service business locations

  16. Centennial Anniversary –100 Years of Honoring and Empowering District 5 Club Events – Hudson • A notation about Zonta International celebrating 100 years in all advertising, press releases • Banner at our booth at Hudson Farmers market in 2019. • Birthday cake at our Spring fundraiser and all membership recruitment events during 2019.
