  2. Quad-LINC is • Quad Cities Libraries in Cooperation • Consortium of over 30 online libraries • Includes materials from other libraries that are not online (e.g. Illini Hospital) • Includes Public, Academic, School, and Special Libraries

  3. Why do you need to know Quad-LINC? • It is useful to find materials for assignments • It is useful to find materials for pleasure during breaks (e.g. a novel, a CD, or a video)

  4. What does Quad-LINC provide? It provides information about materials owned by libraries within • River Bend Library System • Scott County Library System.

  5. What types of materials are available? • Books • Videos • CD’s • Cassettes • Magazines • DVD’s • CD ROM’s

  6. What information does the Quad-LINC catalog show? • Title • Author • Subjects • Location (i.e. library that owns the material) • Short description of material

  7. Where can Quad-LINC be accessed from? • Home • School • The Library • Any computer with an Internet connection

  8. Objectives for this lesson • Access Quad-LINC within allotted time • Open browser window • Type in Quad-LINC address correctly • Type in terms in allotted time • Save relevant records in allotted time • Click “Full Record” (validates ability to find possible record) • Click “Save” (validates that record is relevant based on Quad-LINC information • Able to print saved records • Find books using call numbers

  9. Now it’s time to show you an example of what you will see using Quad-LINC

  10. Start your Web Browsers!!It’s time to access the Internet Now click the little

  11. Which gives you the opening screen

  12. Now it’s time to type the address for Quad-LINC as shown which gives you this screen, then you click on the icon “Welcome to QuadLINC”

  13. Now you click on the Guest Login icon

  14. Now you click All Quad-LINC Libraries

  15. Now you would type in the words Transcultural Nursing in the box labeled Search for just like this. Then press the Enter Key

  16. Now you would find a relevant book. The first one looks good  So you click

  17. Two views of the Full Record This book looks relevant for your needs, and it’s in the Trinity library even better  So you click

  18. Now you click

  19. Which returns you to the list of books from your search

  20. Do you want more books? If so, you can repeat the steps we’ve been through If not, you can continue to print your list of books

  21. Let’s say you’ve found enough. Now you click

  22. Now you click

  23. Now you click This will print your list of books to the printer

  24. Now you click Return to Marked Records

  25. Now you click

  26. Now you clickLogoff to end your session. Which returns you to

  29. Now find your book(s) on the shelf

  30. Do the books fit your need?

  31. If so, terrific!!You’ve done it.If not,it’s back to the beginning to try again
