2. What is corrupt government? • Corrupt government is what you get when elected and/or appointed government officials use their power not for the public good but to steal from the people, enriching themselves, their family, their friends. Government is also corrupt when the hiring for government positions is for people related to certain families.Local and state governments are places where corruption can go unchecked for decades because no one is watching, except those who benefit from it. Contracts are awarded to insiders or the officials get kickbacks. 

3. Example of corrupt government • One example was the Black Horse Cavalry, a group of New York state legislators accused of blackmailing corporations.

4. What is political corrupt • The use of legislated powers by government officials for illegitimate private gain. • Forms of political corruption include bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft, and embezzlement. While corruption may facilitate criminal enterprise such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and human trafficking, it is not restricted to these activities.

5. What is political corrupt • The activities that constitute illegal corruption differ depending on the country or jurisdiction. For instance, certain political funding practices that are legal in one place may be illegal in another. In some cases, government officials have broad or poorly defined powers, which make it difficult to distinguish between legal and illegal actions. Worldwide, bribery alone is estimated to involve over 1 trillion US dollars annually.

6. Types of political corrupt • Bribery A bribe is a payment given personally to a government official in exchange of his use of official powers.  • Trading in influence Trading in influence, or influence peddling in certain countries, refers to the situation where a person is selling his/her influence over the decision process involving a third party.

7. Types of political corrupt • Patronage Patronage refers to favouring supporters, for example with government employment. • Nepotism and cronyism Favouring relatives or personal friends of an official is a form of illegitimate private gain.

8. Types of political corrupt • Electoral fraud Electoral fraud is illegal interference with the process of an election. Acts of fraud affect vote counts to bring about an election result, whether by increasing the vote share of the favoured candidate, depressing the vote share of the rival candidates, or both. • Embezzlement Embezzlement is outright theft of entrusted funds. It is a misappropriation of property. • Kickbacks A kickback is an official's share of misappropriated funds allocated from his or her organization to an organization involved in corrupt bidding. • Unholy alliance An unholy alliance is a coalition among seemingly antagonistic groups, especially if one is religious, for ad hoc or hidden gain.

9. Conditions for corruption The following conditions are favourable for corruption: • Information deficits • Lacking control of the government. • Opportunities and incentives • Social conditions • According to a study of the conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation, lack of economic freedom explains 71% of corruption

10. Example of political corruption • South Africa's deputy president Jacob Zuma came under investigation for allegations that he attempted to solicit a bribe from the head of the South African branch of the arms company Thomson in return for protecting the company from investigation and giving it his 'permanent support'.
