  1. Shoot Evaluation Sanjana Philip

  2. 1. What did you do the day before, to get ready for your shoot day? The day before the shoot we started setting up for our music video with our first set of the day which was our hardest and longest set to set up. Hollies parents came with the set dressing for the dream land set. They had got real grass from the field by Hollies house and put it in the trailer then Hollies mum has arranged flowers for our set. When they arrived we all took the grass out of the the trailer a placed the tiles of grass on the tarp the was set up in the studio. After we set up the grass we bought all the flowers in and Hollie’s mum had shown us how to make flower arrangement in the oasis brick to make it look like wildflower. We used moss to cover up any gaps in the grass. Also before the shoot day i had to make all the posters for the bedroom scene so i made 20 different magazine covers and printed out over a hundred of them so we could create a chaotic effect.

  3. How did you feel when you woke up on the morning of the shoot day? On the morning of the shoot day i was nervous as i was very worried that we didn't have the right props or get all the props in time but once we got to school i had calmed down and become more excited to film our video. I woke up early so i could everything ready and prepared for the day as millie and ava are in the same house we were all together in the morning organising with eachother and making sure we had the right props. I was also very stressed in the morning as there was a lot of running around to get things together last minute so there was a lots of mixed emotions but over my main emotion was excited as it was going to be a fun experience that would be very memorable

  4. How well prepared were you when you arrived for the shoot, what did you have to do before you could start shooting? Before we left for school we had a list of the props we needed like the magazines like makeup, gems , the suits , bubble machine so it would make it easier for us to be organized. However when we arrived at school i had realised that we didn't add a few thing to the list like the main actress clothes for the bedroom scene and the bed duvet and pillow for the bedroom scene as well although this mistake was easily rectified as it was the last set we filmed so i had time to go back to the house during lunch to pick up the props so we had no issues filming later on and we would then have all the props we would need. In the morning we a lots of small hobs like get all the actresses together and get them dressed and ready to start filming and do their makeup for shooting. I also had to check the main office for a last minute prop we had ordered which hasn't arrived but it wasn't integral to filming as it the set looked better without the rug.

  5. Describe what the studio/location looked like when you started to shoot, how well do you feel you managed to create the look of your concept I think we created an identical image to what we we had imaginedwhen we first wanted to have the Dreamland set in our music video. When we first put the grass down it looked quite flat so we added sandbags in to create hills to make it look realistic and create a more wild atmosphere. When we look at the final image that we created it really solidified our concept and look like real wildlife in natural life with the flowers looking like there growing from the grass Before we set up the studio it was it was an empty room with the floor painted black and the black curtain was set up. It was a complete blank space and we had the whole room to complete what we wanted to create.

  6. How did you divide the roles on your shoot day, what role(s) did you play? For the roles we were able to divide them up easily without any conflict so it help make the process of filming easier for everyone. Millie was incharge of the camera so she responsible for setting up the shots and filimg making sure the camera is in focus and the frame is set also incharge of changing the lems when needs be. Ava roles was co director and in charge of taking behind the scene photos for the social media meanign all the behind the scene for our social media campaign was taken by ava she helped get good photos and videos we could use to promote the artist as well as being a runner if people needed water or touch up making her integral for a smooth process Hollie was also co director also and art director, she made sure visually the sets were aestic and helped the cordination of the sets and having to change them. She picked the lighting and what matched the mood of the scene. She also was in charge of hair and makeup and in charge of keeping are main actress organised and helped with the timings of the day. Finally I was incharge of the clapperboard on the ipad this helping with the timing of the music and i would hold it up to the camera and make sure it was in screen and when the music start would remove it to get the timing for each scen to help with editing later on. It was also intregral for make sure we got the timing right in the set. I was also incharge of the props and costumes and making sure we had those ready to go.

  7. What do you think that you personally did particularly well? On the shoot day i think i was good at keep the actress happy and got her was she needed as it was a long tiring day as well as keeping the dancers hydrated and safe because they were dancing and we did lots of takes of the dance so the dancer did get exhausted and we didn't want any injuries. Another thing i think i did well was getting the props and organizing as when we were missing props i managed to figure out a way to get them during the one break we had. So i think i was useful in helping rectify any small issues we had during the day thinking of quick and easy ways to solve them

  8. What problems did your group have on the shoot day, how did you solve them? Another issue we faced were missing props as in the morning when we got to the studio we realised that we had forgotten them and we were quite panicked at first as they were quite import props like the beds sheet for one of the set and on of our actresses costume. However we were able to quickly reqtify this error we had made as i managed to sort out an arrangement to go get them on our lunch break as as the probs we need were the last set we filmed it was less of a rush to get the immediately. One of the main issues we had on the day of the shot is time management we overestimated how much time it would take to change the sets especially the first one as we had to remove the whole flower and grass meadow installation so it took up a majority of our time where we could have been filming extra shot as i felt what we shot was limited but we managed to make it work by wasting no time and we got to film all of our sets even though we were told it wasn't going to be possible to get it done we managed to work harder and tiresleessy to fit it in to the hectic schedule of the day.

  9. Which part of your shoot did you think was most successful and why One of the most the most successful parts of our shoot was the way our sets turned out as they were exactly what we envisioned when we first started the discussion of the sets we wanted. This helped boost moral as it brought the image of our video together giving us a feeling of a good outcomes, A the sets were cinematically pleasing even if we didn't get a lot of footage it would still look good.

  10. Which part of the shoot do you wish had gone better and why? I wish the flower set could have gone slightly better as we didnt get to film all the shots we wanted to in the time and there was many shot we wanted to do or shots that we did were rushed so we didn't get the complete picture of what we wanted to film. Aswell with the lighting of the set it was quite dark to it did not capture the true beauty of the scene so if i was to go back i would change the lighting arrangement to have it compliment the scene and brighten it up.

  11. What part of the shoot did you most enjoy ? My favourite part of shooting was the dance scene with the light up mannequin as it was really fun to see the set come to life. The dancers all had matching oversized suit and due to the dark but electric blue and green lighting they look like silhouettes in the scenesurrounded by the light up mannequin showing a contrast between the other scenes which were bright and dreamy. I also enjoyed decorating the bedroom scene as it was chaotic and expressive so we could have fun while decorating it.

  12. What are you looking forward to seeing most in the edit In the edit im really excited to see how the sets blend well with each other and how the colour will look on the screen cause they will always look different from filming. I think in general seeing our sets on the screen is exciting. Im excited to see the different editing techniques thats can also be used to transform our video .

  13. How well do you think your production group worked as a team Overall i believe we worked exceptionally well as a team as we all had our allocated roles so we were able to distribute work fairly and easily without one member doing more or less than another. Another way we worked well together as a team is because we all listened to each other and were opened to change so when something wasn't working out were were able to offer insight to help ease the project. However there are times you but heads due to memberbenign more strong willed than others creating tension but we were quick to diffuse it as we wanted to create a calm workingenvironment

  14. Are their any lessons you learned today that could help you make your next shoot even more successful I think for me one thing i have learned is to make list organizing your shot list of all the shots you want to film so you can prioritise and not waste time thinking what to film next Aswell another key lesson would be keeping to a schedule to help control your time management so you don't feel too much pressure of not completingshooting.
