The Doctorate Program in Mathematics & Statistics is offered jointly by the Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics which are attached to the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv - Open University.
Doctor in Mathematics & Statistics at KNU OU has been designed to offer students a good foundation for training in statistical methodology and theory. Students will have to find applications in miscellaneous areas when they do scientific research in the fields of biomedical, natural and social sciences, finance, engineering, government regulations and business management.
It prepares the graduates in contemporary statistics in the industry as well as academia. Students will be familiarized with throughput technology and the boom in acquisition technologies of digital data.
Courses that are available for specialization in the doctorate program include Mathematical Statistics, Time Series Analysis, Statistical Learning, Applied Algebra, Functional Analysis, Numerical Analysis and Statistical Methods in Bioinformatics, Stochastic Processes, and Mathematics of Finance.
Students have to complete their dissertation and a final defense to successfully complete this doctorate program.
There is a growing demand for trained mathematicians at all business levels today. The use of automation and computers is on the rise and it has become a norm in almost all economic sectors. At present, engineering, technological and business problems have become so complex that high levels of treatment in mathematics are required.

Admission Criteria This program is equivalent to EQF (European Qualifications Framework) Level 8 - Doctorate Level Students have to submit a proposal for detailed research. This proposal has to outline the intended topic of research along with proposed methodology and objectives.
This research topic has to be the choice of the candidate alone and it will get provisionally approved by the Degree Committee before the applicant is accepted to the Course. Applicants have to consider their topic carefully for their Doctorate research. The topic has to cover the background of the research; special mention has to be done of the analysis that has to be adopted and the possible conclusions that have to be reached by the research.
Duration: + 3 years • Age: Minimum age 25 years • Previous study: Master Degree in the related field or equivalent • Fee: 1990 Euro per year
