  2. Background • Dale Hubert started the project in 1995 • Based on the Flat Stanley series by Jeff Brown • Stanley visits his friends by being mailed to them in an envelope • Global Pen-pal project

How Flat Stanley Works • Students read the Flat Stanley book and are introduced to the character • They make a paper “Flat Stanley” and create journals • In these journals, they document where Stanley goes and what he does. • He is then mailed to other participating schools, where they write in his journal, take pictures, and send to others. • After some time, he is sent back to the original school.
