Documentation using a digital camera. Measurement apparatus – Digital Micrometer
The measuring apparatus measures the location of the electrode or file in the canal, accurate to the thousandths of a millimeter. This is a unique device in that it is the first time no human error is present in testing the accuracy of an apex locator. The apparatus has a built in digital camera that documents the results of the location of the file and the micrometer results. Adjustment mechanism of the tooth relative to the file. The spatial adjustment is made by: a screw on axis Y; and magnetic surfaces on axis X. In addition, the devices were tested in the full range of tolerance – the lowest point of the range and the highest point of the range before reaching the next point to be measured.
The reference point is determined after reading the “apex”. Proof is found using both x-ray and liquid MetApex in the apical region.
The ApexNRG-XFR reads “APEX” (0.00) upon reaching the apical constriction. apical constriction
1 2 3 The measurements with the ApexNRG Blue device received three separate inputs simultaneously in order to fully confirm the results of the reading: 1. Micrometer reading; 2. Device reading; 3. File in canal on screen, with a visual resolution of 0.1 mm. In addition, the grey square on the right side of the screen confirms the change made by the micrometer, in a resolution of 0.1 mm. The resolution on the device itself is 0.25 mm from the Apex – 0.5 mm. From 0.5 mm – 2.0 mm the resolution is only every 0.5 mm. Therefore, when comparing the results with the micrometer, the main comparison should be with the two screen readings as described above.
