HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN REMEMBER • The local safety statements and risk assessments will need to be reviewed • A new Site Specific Emergency Manual is in progress • You may require: • a new workstation risk assessment • a new manual handling risk assessment • a revised Personal Emergency Egress Plan (PEEP) • afirst-aid response plan
HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN FAMILIARISE YOURSELF WITH • Assembly points A, B & C • New evacuation signage, alarm call points, emergency door release and refuge points • Safety equipment: fire extinguishers • Safety notice board (Rathdown House) • Emergency telephone numbers • The nearest emergency exit/route
HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN EVACUATION REFRESHER: A REMINDER!! • Evacuate using nearest and safest exit • All staff must act as evacuation marshals (high visibility jackets available) • Shut down equipment/electricity/gas if time permits and it is safe to do so • Form a single line along corridors/stairwells • DO NOT use the lift • Follow instructions from authorised personnel e.g. Incident Controller, Emergency Services • Report to Assembly Point A, B or C • Do not re-enter buildings until the “all clear” is given
HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN EVACUATION MARSHALS: It is the role of the Evacuation Marshals to: • Sweep/search all rooms in their area • Direct people to the nearest available exit • Ensure that everyone is evacuated General Rule of Thumb • Everyone should act as an evacuation marshal • Give information to the Incident Controller (orange hi-vis vest) • Ensure that everyone is evacuated Do not put yourself in any danger – if in doubt get out!

HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN HAZARD SPOTTING: • A hazard is anything that has the potential to cause harm • Report hazards using the DIT Hazard Report Form available on website
HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN DIT SMOKING POLICY: • In accordance with DIT Smoking Policy, no smoking (including the use of electronic cigarettes) is permitted with the exception of designated shelters Good Housekeeping • We all must keep our work areas as clean and tidy as possible and dispose of all waste appropriately • Access to escape routes, exit doors or fire extinguishers should be kept clear • Remember, corridors are your route to safety - so keep them clear! Please abide by DIT smoking policy
