  2. What is Back to School Bash? • Welcome new and returning students back for the year! • Chance to meet new friends • Reconnect with the old • Blast into the upcoming school year

  3. Goals • Provide a gathering for social connections • Boost School Morale • Start the year off on an exciting beat! • Great way to work together with various clubs to host the ultimate welcome back party. • Build relationships with clubs for future opportunities

  4. Activities • Inflatables • Tye Dye Shirts • Brick Door Stops Painting • Henna • Snow Cones • Popcorn • Cotton Candy • Carnival Style food • Cake Walk • Toss on the soda rings • Gold fish balls into • Prize table • Live music • Football toss through toilet seat • Basketball shooting contest

  5. Prizes • Complete all the activities, fill out punch card… earn a chance to win Sweet Prizes!! • Great Place to have past council members come help work!

  6. Organization People? • Council Member • Resident Assistants • Res Life Staff • Various Campus Clubs • Campus Sports

  7. Time Frame • End of the previous School Year: • Ask for $ from clubs, local businesses, or fundraise! • Determine Theme • Line up Volunteers • Determine Date of Event (Orientation week)

  8. People? • Depends on how big of an event… • WSU: • 1 Student and 1 Hall Director Co-Chairs • 5-8 Students on the Committee • All RAs helps staff the event • Various Clubs helps staff event and donate to the prize table

  9. Budget • Prizes • Games • Food • Total: $1,750.00

  10. Promotion/PR • Included with orientation festivities • Posters • Word of mouth

  11. Sponsors • Local Businesses • Residence Housing Association • NRHH • Student Senate • Various Clubs and Organizations on Campus

  12. Day of Prep • Set up Games and Stations • Set up Live Music Area • Set up Prize Table • Volunteers meet 45 minutes ahead of time to be trained in on their stations.

  13. Outcomes • Over 500 People attended! • Safe environment to establish relationships • Boost School Morale

  14. Improvements • Begin donation search earlier • Henna Stations: More volunteers staffing this

  15. Adaptations? For your School? • Work with orientation activities • Ask other clubs to help • Make good use of a theme (carnival, western, etc.)
