Who Is She and Why I chose Her? Meryl Streep ( 22nd June, 1949) is an inspiring actor who has starred in a number of phenomenal movies involving the well-known ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (playing as Miranda Priestly) and ‘The Iron Lady’ ( as Margaret Thatcher). She has worked in theatre, television and film and regarded as the most talented actress of all time. I chose Meryl Steep because of the variety of roles that she has starred as. Still, at the age of 63 Meryl acts in two to three movies a year, showing her great determination and ambitiousness (starring in four in 2007; ‘Lions of Lambs’, ‘Rendition’, ‘Evening’ and ‘Dark Matter’) Steep is also known for her ability to imitate foreign accents and dialects; from the Danish accent in ‘Out o Africa’ to the Polish accent of the holocaust survivor in ‘Sophie's choice’.
Early Life Born in Summit in New Jersey, her mother Mary Wolf (1915–2001), was a commercial artist and former art editor, and her father, Harry William Streep (1910–2003), was a pharmaceutical executive. After graduating from Yale School of Drama, Steep auditioned for any roles but was mostly unsuccessful, till her first featured film in 1977 called Julia, playing a small but effective flashback scene. Being a role model for woman and girls all around the world, Meryl Streep is also the National Spokesperson for the National Woman's History Museum. At the moment, Streep, who s 63 is married with four children; Mamie Gummer (29), Grace Gummer (26) and Louisa Jacobson Gummer (21)are the girls and Henry Gummer (33) the only boy. Her husband, Don Gummer,
What she is doing now At the moment Meryl is working on a new movie for 2013, Hope Springs (12a)with Tommy Lee Jones. The film is about a couple, married for thirty years, that attend an intense week-long counselling session to work on their relationship. Also she has her left hand bandaged after an avocado-peeling accident that served nerves which required physical therapy. On USA Today, she commented “Six months to a year, it will take to heal.”
Awards Meryl has won17 Academy Awards nominations and three wins, plus 27 Golden Globes nominations and eight wins. Most recently, her performance as Margaret Thatcher in 2011's ’ The Iron Lady’ won lead-actress honours at both ceremonies, upsetting Viola Davis of ‘The Help’ Meryl at the 61st Academy Award Awards March 29, 1989 http://www.aceshowbiz.com/celebrity/meryl_streep/awards.html-more about her nominations, wins and awards

What I found Out. Having found out a lot about Meryl Streep, I find her even more fascinating then before as she does so much charity work and at the age of 63, she still stars in movies and they are still as amazing as the rest. I had fun researching about her and really learnt a lot. Meryl is an amazing inspiration to my own work and plan to follow in some of her footsteps.
