TENSION: Nyle can’t spend time with Muncie and can’t tell Muncie about Ezra and Mrs. Trent. Muncie thinks evacuees are mutants. RISK & DANGER The nuclear plant fallout might cause sickness or death PROBLEM (CONFLICT): Nyle is worried about Ezra and Mrs. Trent dying in the room. SOLUTION (TURNING POINT/RESOLUTION): Helping people in need taught Nyle to care about others again. She learned to overcome fear. Nyle first didn’t want to take care of Ezra but then she reads to him and starts to take care of Ezra’s physical needs. Nyle and Ezra are like brothers and sisters, they joke around. Now, Nyle believes Ezra must be alive. Nyle has a crush on Ezra. Nyle tells Ezra to fly away and start over. Beginning (Goal): Fallout from the nuclear power plant has caused Nyle’s community to become sick. Exposition Nyle: girl, 13 Muncie: best friend, girl 13, small Ripley: bully, boy, 15 Gram: Nyle’s grandma Ezra: evacuee, boy, 15 Mrs. Trent: evacuee, Ezra’s mom ENDING (CLOSURE/LEARNING): Nyle will help other evacuees. She doesn’t want more people to die. She wants people to remember Crookshire. (TRANSFORMATION) x
