Emergency Safety Plan • Woodland Emergency Safety Plan is updated each year. • A copy of the plan is posted in every classroom and office on campus. • Teachers are trained for and assigned responsibilities in the event of an emergency. • Students practice safety drills each month.
Shelter in Place/Lockdown • Shelter in Place drill teaches students what to do when an intruder is on campus. • Students report to nearest classroom. • Doors are locked. • Students hide out of sight from windows. • Teachers will locate students away from danger.
Earthquake Drill • Students protect their necks and huddle under the desks. • When all is clear, teachers evacuate students. • Doors are left open. • Students walk in calm, quiet lines with their class out to the soccer fields with emergency safety supplies.
Fire Drill • Fire Alarm is sounded. • Students immediately line up with their class and walk out to designated spot on soccer field. • Students walk out in calm, quiet lines with emergency safety supplies. • Doors are closed.
Fire and Earthquake Evacuation Drills • Students exit classrooms in a quiet calm manner to the safety of the soccer fields. • Teachers count students noting missing or absent students. • Slips are collected by the administrator to confirm that all students are counted. • Each class has emergency safety supplies in a backpack or bucket. Search and Rescue • All classes are buddied to facilitate evacuation. • Teachers post a Green or Red magnet on the outside of the door when leaving classroom. • Green means all is clear. • Red means attention needed. • Staff assigned to Search and Rescue sweep school and report back to administrator.
Emergency Supplies Container • Additional emergency safety supplies are stocked in a container on the blacktop near the soccer fields. • Emergency supplies provided by the district are restocked as necessary. • In a real emergency, 2 staff members will monitor the distribution of supplies.
Release Desk in an Emergency • In a real emergency, gates will be kept locked. • A Release Desk will be set up at the front gate. • Parents report to Release Desk to request their child. • Staff will radio to have student brought up to Reunion Gate. • Parents will pick up their child at the Reunion Gate.
Reunion Desk/Gate • Reunion Gate is the side gate located to the left of the office when facing the school. • Reunion Desk will be set up outside the Reunion Gate. • Students that are requested at the Release Desk will be walked up to the Reunion Gate to be reunited with parents. • Parents must sign-out their child at the Reunion Desk.
