  2. Why are we starting BYOD? Technology benefits the learning process Students are very engaged when using technology Students can access a greater number of resources through technology We are helping our students prepare for a 21st century world, where technology is used every day

  3. What Devices are acceptable? Laptops iPads Netbooks Kindles/Nooks Any Portable electronic Device

  4. “The use of technology to provide educational material is not a necessity but a privilege. A student does not have the right to use his/her electronic device while at school. When abused, privileges can be can taken away.”

  5. Things to know about BYOD Responsibility to keep the device Secure rests with the owner (the school is not responsible for your device) Students shall not send or encourage others to send abusive, harassing, annoying, or inappropriate messages/materials Students are required to have their name labeled on their device The school district has the right to collect and examine any device that is suspected of causing problems or was the source of an attack or virus infection

  6. More things to know… Students are not permitted to transmit or post photographic images/videos of any person on campus on public and/or social networking sites Personal devices must be charged prior to bringing them into school Using personal devices at unauthorized times will result in the loss of BYOD privileges

  7. Teacher’s Role Teachers will not spend time fixing technical difficulties with students’ personal devices The use of these student personal devices is strictly up to the teacher.

  8. Fill out this form; parent signature needed. Bring back to the office as soon as possible. Read the handout “Electronic Information Resources Access Agreement” before you sign the permission slip.
