Mark 4:41 “Sinidlansilangmatindingtakot at panggigilalas, at nagsabisaisa’tisa, ‘Sino ngakayaito, at sinusunodmagingnghangin at ngdagat?’”
I. Jesus DESIGNS the Storms of Life
Mark 4:35-36 “Kinagabiha’ysinabini Jesus samgaalagadniya, ‘Tumawidtayosaibayo. Kaya’tiniwannilaangmgatao, at sumakaysabangkangkinalululananni Jesus upangitawidsiya. May kasabay pa silangibangmgabangka.”
Mark 4:37 “Dumatingangmalakasnaunos. Hinampasngmalalakingalonangbangka, anupat halos mapunoitongtubig.”
Why do storms come? Disobedience. Obedience.
Why Should the Disciples be Unafraid • Jesus invited them • Jesus was with them • Jesus was at peace
Gone through a storm Going through a storm Will go through a storm
II. Jesus DESIRES that You Stop Relying on Yourself
Mark 4:37-38 “Dumatingangmalakasnaunos. Hinampasngmalalakingalonangbangka, anupat halos mapunoitongtubig. Si Jesus nama’ynakahiligsaunansa may hulihanngbangka at natutulog. Ginisingsiyangmgaalagad. ‘Guro,’ anila, ‘dibaninyoalintana? Lulubognatayo!’”
Many times we rely on ourselves until we reach the end of our rope.
Have you reached the end of your rope?
2 Corinto 1:8-9 “Mgakapatid, ibinabalitanaminsainyoangmgakapighatiannadinanasnaminsa Asia. Napakabigatngamingdinanas, anupatnawalannakamingpag-asangmabuhay pa. Akalanami’ydumatingnaangamingoras. NgunitnangyariiyonupanghuwagkamingmanaligsaamingsarilikundisaDiyos.”
III. Jesus DELIGHTS When You Start Relying on Him
Mark 4:38 “Si Jesus nama’ynakahiligsaunansa may hulihanngbangka at natutulog. Ginisingsiyangmgaalagad. ‘Guro,’ anila, ‘dibaninyoalintana? Lulubognatayo!’”
Mark 4:39-40 “Bumangonsi Jesus at iniutossahangin, ‘Tigil!’ At sinabisadagat, ‘Tumahimik ka!’ Tumigilanghangin at tumahimikangdagat. Pagkatapos, sinabiniyasamgaalagad, ‘Bakit kayo natatakot? Wala pa bakayongpananalig?’”
Mark 4:41 “Sinidlansilangmatindingtakot at panggigilalas, at nagsabisaisa’tisa, ‘Sino ngakayaito, at sinusunodmagingnghangin at ngdagat?’”
Jesus rebukes the storm in the lake. Jesus rebukes the fear in His disciples’ hearts.
STOP looking at your problems... START looking unto Jesus...
In the midst of the storm… • Jesus cares
Mark 4:38 “Si Jesus nama’ynakahiligsaunansa may hulihanngbangka at natutulog. Ginisingsiyangmgaalagad. ‘Guro,’ anila, ‘dibaninyoalintana? Lulubognatayo!’”
STILL by Reuben Morgan Hide me now under your wings, And cover me within your mighty hand. Chorus When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm. Father, you are King over the flood. I will be still and know you are God. Find rest my soul in Christ alone, Know his power in quietness and trust.
In the midst of the storm… • Jesus cares • Jesus is capable
Mark 4:39-40 “Bumangonsi Jesus at iniutossahangin, ‘Tigil!’ At sinabisadagat, ‘Tumahimik ka!’ Tumigilanghangin at tumahimikangdagat. Pagkatapos, sinabiniyasamgaalagad, ‘Bakit kayo natatakot? Wala pa bakayongpananalig?’”
A mature hurricane is by far the most powerful event on earth. The combined nuclear arsenals of USA and the former USSR don’t contain enough energy to keep a hurricane going for one day. A hurricane... could provide all the electric power needed by the USA for 3 or 4 years.”
Mark 4:35 “On that day, when evening came, He said to them, ‘Let us go over to the other side.’” Mark 5:1 “They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes.”
In the midst of the storm… • Jesus cares • Jesus is capable • Jesus is in charge
