Air Quality Network Air Quality & Noise Monitoring Locations
Noise Monitoring Statutory noise monitoring was conducted in August 2013. The monitoring occurred while there was north westerly winds, at the time it was the near the best production we’ve had from the underground and CHPP in a 24hr period in the last two years; dozers were on stockpiles and there where two trains loaded at 1615 and 2030 during the noise monitoring. We were at full production and operation – basically the worst case scenario for the possibility of a noise exceedence. There were no exceedences for the reporting period.
Complaints There were seven complaints received during this quarter. Total complaints Direct: 2, Indirect: 5, Total enquiries: 0. The two complaints received directly to Ashton were in regards to the school bus obscuring access to Dairy Lane. A larger area has been constructed for the bus to turn off the highway and turn around allowing access to Dairy Lane. Five complaints were received via the Department of Planning & Infrastructure (DoP&I) relating to excessive noise at Ashton Coal. Investigations were carried out upon each complaint and found no issues regarding Ashton.
