Instructional Goals for Students • 1. Students will attain the standards set by AERO. • 2. Students will utilize a variety of strategies and experiences to build and broaden learning. • 3. Students will gain confidence by being challenged and making decisions.
Expectations Students will be: 1. Respectful 2. Organized 3. Communicators 4. Honest 5. Inquirers 6. Prepared 7. On Task
Policies and Procedures • 80% Rule • Student Organization • Resources • Assignments
80% Rule 1. Students must achieve 80% or better on each assignment or assessment. 2. If students do not achieve 80%, they need to do the following: 2.1 Do corrections for missed items. 2.2 Show how the error was made. 2.3 Show the correct work on a separate paper. 2.4 Do another assignment as stated by the Prescriptions or Mr. Thompson.

Student File Stays in classroom • One folder per chapter • Any graded work for each chapter.

Pre-Tests • Before and after instruction • 95% or better = Project • Less than 95% = Packet and Instruction • Does not affect grade.
Prescription Packet (Classwork and Homework) • Pre-Test Questions • Vocabulary • Due Dates • Objectives • Levels of assignments: • 100% = Enrichment • 50 - 99% = Application • 0 - 49% = Remediation
Quizzes • Short assessments that measure students’ current understanding. • Usually two to four sections
O.R.A.’s • Application assessments • Model thinking through writing, drawings, lists, etc. • Students may use any resource such as books, their binders, and the internet to assist them, except other people.
Projects • Extra Credit • One project per quarter • Choose project from the Matrix • Self-assess using the checklists • Mandatory • Mastery on Pre-Test • Due before others take next Pre-Test • For Grade (in lieu of CW, HW, Quiz, ORA, etc.)
Post-Tests • Matches the Pre-Test in format and content • Compare to Pre-Test
Labs • Activities that apply and reinforce a chapter’s objectives • Collaborative • Research • Website Critiques
