History of public health ethics courses at JHSPH • Anomalous: public health ethics preceded medical ethics • ?1979?: 1st course in public health ethics • 1986: advanced (justice) PHE course added • 1992-97: AIDS, ethics, and public policy • 1993: research ethics course added • 1995: research ethics became School wide requirement for many students; public health ethics “recommended” for others
