Wheels for all North Tyneside. Serving the North East. Brief History WFA organisation. WFA grew out of the Greater Manchester Cycling project in the late 1980s and was set up in 1999. It now has 16 centres around the country, and the largest fleet of hand cranked and adapted cycles in the UK.

  2. Brief History WFA organisation • WFA grew out of the Greater Manchester Cycling project in the late 1980s and was set up in 1999. It now has 16 centres around the country, and the largest fleet of hand cranked and adapted cycles in the UK. Working to provide cycling opportunities for everyone to enjoy.

W.F.A North Tyneside • The first meeting of WFA was at “The Parks” in North Shields when a few interested parties discussed the feasibility of using the venue for a new site for WFA. • A trip was arranged to visit Manchester to see the setup there. We could see we would need lots of equipment and somewhere secure to keep it.

W.F.A North Tyneside We filled the cabin delivered in July 2001 with cycles from: • Wheels for all Manchester (Hand cycles) • North Tyneside Council (loaned special needs cycles) • Woodlawn School. (Two tricycles) • KMPG (two German recumbent Trikes) We now have over 20 bikes! We have run several taster days. The latest, for Age Takes Centre Stage, had 24 clients aged 50-92 yrs! – some cycling the very first time!
