40% TSWB in a Non-Fire Retardant Vinyl Ester Resin laminate ( NOTE: panel was hand laminated. Approx. 28% Glass Content, pigmented with Titanium Dioxide. 66 grams of TSWB per 100 grams of VE resin, predispersed with a mechanical mixer.
40% TSWB/VE Test Panel at 30 seconds NOTE: No fire, no smoke. Without TSWB the panel would be engulfed in flames, generating thick black smoke. Charring and intumescence has begun swelling out of the solid laminate
40% TSWB/VE Test Panel at 1 min 45 sec NOTE: No fire, no smoke. Red Glow is a result of the char/ceramic/inorganic matrix.
40% TSWB/VE Test Panel at 2 min 45 sec. NOTE: NO fire, no smoke. Swollen char is uniform and has changed little in 1 minute despite the 2500° F torch flame front. Torch was removed at 3 min
40% TSWB/VE Test Panel at 3 min Conclusion. NOTE: Swollen ceramic char
40% TSWB/VE Test Panel backside. NOTE: Discoloration Contribution from TSWB.
30% Test Panel – Front. (Note: Panel is “drier” in appearance, however the TSWB™ surface “doping” is extremely thin and uniform.)
30% Test Panel - Back/Side. (Note: the excellent uniformity of the TSWB™ broadcast on both sides of the panel.)
START of 30% Test Panel Torch Demonstration with the same torch - <1 second.
30% Test Panel - 30 seconds. (Note: there is near zero flame exhibited by the panel and zero smoke).
30% Test Panel - After 1 minute. (Note the intense “Glow” on the panel). This extremely localized heat confinement is caused by the ceramic intumescent char
30% Test Panel – Flame source stopped at 1 Minute and 10 seconds for approximately 3 seconds. A small quantity of wispy white smoke caused by the radiant heat afterglow is observable at this time. There was no observable afterglow after 2 seconds. This is due to the emissivity of the TSWB™ ceramic/ inorganic constituents. Note the confined flame spread char.
30% Test Panel - 1 Minute 30 Seconds. A very small flame from vaporizing resin appeared at approximately 1 minute 25 seconds due to the constant focus of the torch flame front on the same area and the TSWB™ not allowing the heat to migrate. No Smoke!
30% Test Panel - 2 Minutes. : At approximately 1 minute 50 seconds, a small flame materialized due to the vaporization of inter-laminate resin in the immediate area of the flame contact. This occurred as the heat was not allowed to migrate and was firmly localized. This flame stopped immediately the moment the torch flame was removed.
30% Panel: Side View of Char. Note the intumescent (i.e.: foamed) char. This char grew right out of the cured laminate.
30% Panel Front Side: Panel minimally charred area. Darker area is the swollen char.
