Operator Positioning • Head and neck in same vertical plane as torso • Upper arms aligned with long axis of body • Chair supports the small of your back • thighs are parallel to the floor
“Put the patient where YOU are comfortable” • Sit alongside with upper arms against your sides • lower arms crossed at your waist. • Patients open mouth should be below the point of your elbow.
End of Appointment • Raise back of chair slowly • Lower base • Allow patient to sit briefly to avoid postural hypotension
