  1. CARBON FOOTPRINTS

  2. What is a Carbon Footprint? • A Carbon footprint is the measure of how much CO2 a single person or family releases into the atmosphere

  3. Why are they a problem? • CO2 emission is the leading cause of global warming. • The more co2 that is released into the atmosphere, the warmer the atmosphere gets • The warmer the atmosphere gets, the more glaciers melt and water levels rise • This offsets millions of animals habitats, including humans

  4. What causes the average persons CO2 emission? • Driving • Flying • Home heating and electricity • When buying any type of material product, you promote the emissions from the factory it was created in.

  5. What needs to be done? • All people must make an effort to reduce their CO2 emissions. • It takes everyone to make a difference on the larger scale

  6. What can we do? • Buy energy efficient fluorescent light bulbs for the house • Car pool, or try to reduce all travel in your car • In the winter turn the thermostat down just 2 degrees to conserve thousands of pounds of CO2, and do the opposite during the summer.

  7. Continued…. • Buying energy efficient (energy star) appliances will save literally tons of CO2 in the long run. • When buying materials or any type of product, its best to buy recycled materials. • MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU MUST SPREAD THE WORD TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM

  8. For More Information……… • www.carbonfootprint.com • www.carboncounter.com • You can calculate your personal carbon output at both of these websites!
