This session focuses on working with Special Olympics programs, Project UNIFY, and other community resources to make our goals a reality. Participants will engage in activities such as Wagon Wheel discussions, mock meetings, and creating an action plan.

  1. Youth Do Change the World, Session #9 MOTIVATE/ACTIVATE: Going Forward; Working with SO Program, Project UNIFY and other School/Community Resources to make our Goals a Reality.

  2. Wagon Wheel – Purpose • Generates many ideas, in a short amount of time. • Develop a sense of teamwork. • Collaboratively discuss topics with many people, rather than just those at your table.

  3. Wagon Wheel – Directions • Will share a question, where each delegation will have 5 minutes to discuss with the delegation across from you. • When time “is up” the delegation will move leftward, thereby meeting a new delegation.

  5. What best practices (behaviors/interactions) can we use to work with educators, administrators and fellow students/youth?

  6. How can we make our goals real?

  7. Mock Meeting • As a group, we will identify: • Collaborative (good) behaviors and actions. • Disruptive (bad) behaviors and actions.

  8. Youth Activation Committee • Roles: • California, Co-Chairs • Oregon, Communications Sub-Committee • Italy, Outreach Sub-Committee • Romania, SO Strategy

  16. Find a meeting where youth is present! Athlete and Partners are imperative to the Special Olympics Movement! Step 5

  17. Action Planning • Develop a plan on how you will communicate when back in your home community.
