  1. Warm Up- 8/27 • Name an organelle that bothProkaryotes and Eukaryotes share.

  2. Good Things

  3. Cell Organelles Notes • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zafJKbMPA8

  4. Foldable Instructions

  5. Cell Membrane • Controls what enters & exits the cell. Made of a phospholipid bilayer.

  6. Cell Walls • Surrounds the cell membrane and provides structure. • Found in plants and fungi.

  7. Cytoplasm • Gel-like fluid surrounding organelles and filling the cell.

  8. Nucleus • Control center of cell • Double membrane • Contains • Chromosomes • Nucleolus

  9. Nucleolus • Directs making of RNA • Forms ribosomes

  10. Ribosomes Links together amino acids to make proteins. Found on Rough ER and the cytoplasm

  11. Endoplasmic Reticulum • Helps move substances within cells • Two types • Rough ER • Smooth ER

  12. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum • Ribosomes attached to surface • Manufacture proteins • Not all ribosomes attached to rough ER • May modify proteins from ribosomes

  13. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum • No attached ribosomes • Has enzymes that help build molecules • Carbohydrates • Lipids

  14. Golgi Body • Packaging & shipping station of cell using vesicles.

  15. Lysosomes • Contains digestive enzymes to break down old cell parts

  16. Vacuoles • Membrane bound storage sacs • More common in plants than animals • Contents • Water • Food • wastes

  17. Mitochondria • Bound by double membrane • Produces energy for the cell and the site of Cellular Respiration

  18. Chloroplasts • Derived form photosynthetic bacteria • Solar energy capturing organelle and the site of photosynthesis

  19. Warm Up- 8/31 • Study your notes and review sheet! • Place your phone in your backpack and backpacks under the board.
