  1. How to paddle an SUP board when in the water? While paddleboarding can be a fun and enjoyable activity, Sea Lion Boards finds many beginners out there who aren’t getting the guidance they need. Let’s look at the right technique involved in paddling an SUP board. England, UK, 07th July 2023 Using SUP paddles while standing on a board in the water involves a combination of balance, technique, and coordination. First, you have to begin by standing on your SUP board in calm, shallow water. Position yourself towards the center of the board with your feet hip-width apart. Keep your knees slightly bent to maintain stability and a low center of gravity. After this, grasp the SUP paddle with both hands, ensuring that your hands are shoulder-width apart. One hand should grip the top of the paddle (the "T-grip" or handle), while the other hand should hold the paddle shaft. Make sure the paddle blade is facing away from you. Reach forward with the paddle and immerse the blade into the water as far forward as you comfortably can. Remember that the blade should be fully submerged in the water. With the blade in the water, push down on the paddle grip while simultaneously pulling back with the shaft hand. After completing the stroke on one side, remove the blade from the water and smoothly transfer the paddle to the opposite side of the board. Keep your paddle grip shoulder-width apart and repeat the paddle stroke on the other side. Throughout the paddling process, ensure that you are using your core muscles for stability and generating power in your paddle strokes. Keep your upper body relaxed, and avoid excessive leaning or twisting movements that may disrupt your balance. Always wear a personal flotation device (PFD) for safety reasons. Be aware of your surroundings, and follow any local regulations or guidelines for water activities.
