Theme Packet Group Assignment
Form a group of 5 individuals • Within your group choose an EIC • Create/design a Theme packet for the upcoming 2010- 2011 Yearbook • Create a PPT to present your theme to the other staffers • Create a Paste up of your mock book (you will need 5-6 ‘roughing it’ layout papers) • Create each page using Microsoft Publisher • PRESENTATIONS ARE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25, 2010! Directions:
design your cover • mock it up with the materials available to you • don’t forget the spine • explain any special effect (embossing, UV lamination, overtone rub, foil, etc.) COVER MOCK-UP
The endsheet should have a noticeable connection to the cover visually and verbally. • If you will include the table of contents, include spin-offs of your theme. • If your back endsheet will be different, include a paste up of it too. Endsheet Paste-up
Your title page should continue the “theme look” started on the cover and endsheet. Title Page
Keep your “theme look” going. • Paste-up an opening spread. If your opening will be more than one spread, be sure to tell how you will develop your ideas. • Write out the opening copy. Use specifics to personalize your theme and connect it to the school. Open Copy
Design one to two divider page(s). • Write the copy in the way that you intend to do for one section. • Again, your “theme look” should be obvious here. Design 1-2 Divider Page(s)
What will it look like….. • How will it carry out your theme? FOLIO
You will need to create a PowerPoint showcasing your chosen theme and the book elements. • Remember you want to “sell” your theme/concept to the group Final Presentation
Spend time with your group going through the creative process. • One person in your group should act as the Editor in Chief (EIC), this will help with keeping the group on track. Creative Process
What is your theme/concept? • How does it relate to your school/student body? • How is it timely (appropriate for 2011)? • Be as specific as possible with events, situations and circumstances about your school and the students that will make this interesting and appealing. Cover These Elements
