What Are Aspects? • Aspects are the angles formed between planets • Lots of aspects found even within a single chart • Remember the earlier analogy: • The house is the stage, the planet the actor, and the sign the costume • Aspects would describe the chemistry between actors • There are many kinds of aspects

Sextile • The planets are 2 signs apart • 60° angle formed Opportunity, change Minor Aspect: Semi-Sextile difficulties with changing
Square • The planets are 3 signs apart • Forms right triangle Obstacles, solid and unavoidable Minor Aspect: Semi-Square difficulties, karmic cost
Trine • The planets are 4 signs apart • 120° angle formed Creative spark, source of inspiration and imagination
Opposition • The planets are directly opposite each other, or 6 signs apart • 180° angle formedbetween planets Polarized action, awareness, competing traits
Minor Aspects • Quintile - 72° angle which represents harmony, equilibrium, or flow • QuicunxInconjunct- 150° angle which represents discord, disequilibrium, or ebb
Asteroids • Chiron – the wounded healer • Healing of all manner, what in life needs healing • Saturn and Uranus • Hestia/Vesta – keeper of the sacred flame • Focus, dedication, and spiritual manifestation • Virgo and Scorpio • Pallus/Athena/Minerva – the intellectual warrior • Wisdom, applied logic, talent, relationship between father and child • Libra, Leo, and Aquarius • Ceres/Demeter – the earth mother and ruler of seasons • Comfort, unconditional love, relationship between mother and child, caring, nurturing, accomplishment • Cancer, Pisces, Taurus, Virgo • Juno/Hera – the divine consort • Personal relationships, commitment beyond initial attraction • Libra and Scorpio
