Activated charcoal works by trapping unwanted materials, toxins, and substances within its pores and it's flushed away. This process is known as adsorption. Not to be confused with absorption where substances are soaked up by a chemical. Activated charcoaltoothpaste works through elements binding into the surface, and this can be ADsorption. Also, activated charcoal is negatively charged and so lots of substances with favorable charges pertain to it such as free radicals, toxins, gases, and chemicals.
