5 Do's and Don'ts in Writing a College Application Essay
College Essays Can Reveal the Real ‘You’.
Test scores and student grades surely are the most vital factors in determining admissions decisions, application essays often play a significant role as well. Essays can give the admission readers a real sense of your personality, way better than anything else could. Some believe these essays are a “glimpse into your soul.”
At the yearly conferences of NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling), college deans have accepted time and again that poorly written essays can turn out to be a ‘NO’ even for students with top grades and scores while eloquent and engaging essays can let the genie out of the bottle and turn the tide towards acceptance for a student with not so good grades and scores.
Almost all colleges require at least one essay as a part of their applications while some may require even two, three or more. You can range your essay from just a few words to two or three long pages of content. Consider the Essay questions in the college application as an opportunity to explain your personality inside out.
