The community mural movement, which started from the 1960's, produced hundreds upon hundreds of large scale wall paintings. Almost every town had a few, including Indianapolis, although they had been concentrated in cities. These were sparked by labor movements the civil rights movement, the Chicano movement, and community development programs. Hispanic muralists like Diego Rivera, Clemente Orozco, David Sequeiros, and Arnold Belkin affected content and the style of those murals. Graffiti and by advertisements art also affected them.
