What Happens During Fetal Echo Test?
A fetal echo test becomes important if the parents of the unborn child were born with a heart defect or the mother has diabetes. This test is very similar to an ultrasound and allows the doctor to see and examine the function and structure of the unborn child’s heart. Our Imaging Centre in Delhi is one of the few centres in the city which provide this test. Usually, it is done around 18th to 24th week of pregnancy. Sound waves from the machine ‘echo’ off the child’s heart and create a picture. This picture of the interiors of the heart is then examined by the doctor.
