Oxidative stress has been shown to be an important contributor to inflammatory conditions, and in recent years has been implicated in the underlying mechanisms that result in depression and anxiety. One of the proposed pathway in developing depression has been the increased oxidative stress which pairs up with inflammatory mechanism leading to cellular aging, and possibly depression and anxiety.
