WHAT IS DAP
WHAT IS DAP DAP is u201cDelivered at Placeu201d. It can be used for any mode of transport where more than one mode of transport is used. DAP is the modification of an old incoterm and a new addition to the latest versions of incoterm. It replaces the outdated DDU incoterm which was Delivery Duty Unpaid. DAP means that the seller must make the goods available at a named place by the buyer. The location is chosen by the buyer under DAP. The seller in DAP is not responsible for unloading the goods from the carrier at the destination. The seller also does not need to pay for any cutom duties, tarrifs, VAT, taxes or any other costs that may apply during the delivery of the good to the named location. As the seller is not responsible for any of these the buyer gets the responsibilities for the risks that involves processing customs clearance, the taxes to be paid, the import duties to be imposed on the goods and the other costs that gets added to the shipment. DAP serves various mode of transportation and therefore is versatile. All the selleru2019s obligations are same as of other incoterms except that one additional obligation gets added to the list. Under this obligation the seller is responsible for the costs involving inland transportation at the destination country. The buyer under DAP is relaxed as he has to pay for the payment of goods, customs clearance on arrival and fees only.
