What are the types of cement & their suitabilities?
Cement companies produce variety of cements for different purposes of construction. But cement vendors tend to push the products of cement dealership from which they get the highest commission. Following are the 13 types of cement with the usage for which they are suitable for.. 1. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)- is commonly used for concrete construction. 2. Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC)- is used for marine structures, sewage works, sewage works and for laying concrete under water such as bridges, piers, dams and mass concrete works etc. 3. Rapid Hardening Cement- works best for prefabricated concrete construction, road works, etc. 4. Quick setting cement- is used where works is to be completed in very short period and for concreting in static or running water. 5. Low Heat Cement- This cement has increased power against sulphates and is less reactive and initial setting time is greater than OPC.
