“Satta” is commonly referred to as “betting” in Hindi language in India while “Matka” refers to “Earthen Pot”. Earlier, satta matka draws were held by pulling out a winning number from a number of chits laid inside a long earthen pot. People used to place their bets on winning numbers (from 0 to 9) from which the game has derived its name “Satta Matka”.
