Artists And Oxford Pupils Brighten Up Marston Underpass With New Mural For over 12 years I've been painting murals that are commissioned that are large in and around Bristol. The neighborhood mural movement, which started from the 1960's, produced hundreds upon hundreds of large scale wall paintings in less than a decade. Every town had a few, although they were concentrated in major cities. These were sparked by community improvement programs, labour moves, the Chicano movement, and the civil rights movement. Hispanic muralists like David Sequeiros, Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and Arnold Belkin affected content and the style of these murals. Graffiti and from advertising art also influenced them.
