Although some of the active constituent of the fillers may vary, the main difference between most of the products on the market today is in how long the effects last. Some of the active compounds in different products have a firmer regularity which is beneficial in deeper facial lines and will hold up under repetitive facial movements. Others are much softer and used in more superficial lines and lip areas. In addition to hyaluronic acid, current filler products on the market may be incorporate of hydroxyapatite (i.e. Radiesse), PLLA (i.e. Sculptra) or polymethylmethacrylate beads (i.e. Bellafill) which all have varying lengths of effect.
