  1. 4 Amazing Destinations in That is Greatly Treasured in Santiago Santiago or Santiago De Chile is the largest capital city in the Americas. Santiago is also one of the most populated cities with an estimated population of 7 million. This urban metropolis was first founded in 1541 by Pedro de Valdivia, today its streets are sprinkled with some of the best neo-classical architecture from the 19th century, art deco museums and several standalone hills which reveal secrets about the past. The main square of Plaza de Armas is encircled with historic buildings, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago, Palacio de la Real Audiencia de Santiago, Central post office building, and many more. The central market or Mercado Central de Santiago is a popular public market that was first opened in 1872. The market was a replacement of Plaza del Abasto which was destructed by fire. Designed by Joaquin Toesca, La Moneda was initially founded as a colonial mint house. The building was constructed in 1784 and has been built using twenty different varieties of brick. The building draws its inspiration from the neo-classical works of Roman Doric. The palace takes a rectangular shape, horizontal horizons where its main facade faces the Moneda streets while its rooms have been divided into several patios.
