CUNY Rationale for e-Portfolio (1) • One reason we implemented ePortfolio is to help Science Ed students understand in deeper sense how to engage in evidenced-based reflective practice to improve their pedagogy in the classroom. • The ePortfolio would help science educators consciously reflect ( with evidence) on their professional identities. • Teacher education programs have used eportfolios in multiple ways depending on the targeted objective or learning goals
CUNY Rationale for e-Portfolio (2) • As part of the initial certification process, New York State and other states, are now requiring certification candidates to submit and electronic portfolio call the Education Teacher Performance Assessment ( edTPA for short). Science education candidate must complete the edTPA( Science Education) • Basic requirements and the underlying purpose on sieving graduate students in terms of professional and scholarly research can be presented through an ePortfolio platform instead of the traditional format.
