Aims of the workshop At the end of the workshop we hope you will have: • considered the importance of being a ‘dual professional’ • considered and discussed the CPD framework (understanding the application and assessment processes) • identified which category of fellowship is appropriate for you • reflected and evaluated your own experiences in light of the UK Professional Standards Framework and considered your practice against the relevant criteria for your identified category of fellowship • started to draft your own submission • considered buddying up with a colleague to keep each other on track

It is essential that you make a claim • You must support your reflective evidence by linking it to learning and teaching literature appropriate to your context and experience throughout your application • Show us clearly how you meet the Core Knowledge and Professional Values • Indicate in your text where you think the links are by including the relevant knowledge or value in brackets, like a reference (K1) (V3) • It is essential that you make a claim, rather than the Panel extract the evidence
Reference requirements Discuss your plan to apply for recognition with your line manager Referees must be familiar with UKPSF Referees must be able familiar with your work and the context in which you teach and/or support learning.

Getting feedback on your submission LTIC colleagues are happy to: • discuss overall approaches and ideas • provide feedback on a full draft of one section (written or prepared) • provide feedback on case studies chosen for oral assessment (SFHEA) We would also recommend attending a writing day where LTIC colleagues will be available to support you.
Application process • Complete application requirements including references • Email your application to HEAFellowships@herts.ac.uk • You will receive a confirmation of receipt email • You will then receive details of your assessment date. • If a written submission for AFHEA or FHEA you will be informed of the date that the panel will meet to consider your application. • Oral assessment AFHEA/FHEA and all SFHEA applicants will receive details of time, date and room for the assessment
Application process • Following panel meetings you will be emailed with the outcome. • If not initially successful you will be referred to a colleague in the Learning and Teaching Innovation Centre for support to reapply • We will send confirmation to HEA and you will receive certification from them by email • There is a payment required by the HEA for colleagues based at a non-subscribing institution (i.e. not working at or affiliated to UH): • AFHEA = £100 per person • FHEA = £200 per person • SFHEA = £300 per person • PFHEA = £500 per person Fees correct according to HEA website accessed on Dec. 16th 2018
