Role Latah • practice of selecting behaviors from both categories, and elaborating them idiosyncratically into intentionally amusing performance. • the stimulus is inadequate to trigger a startle response (eg: gentle nudge). An actual startle may not occur, although an acted version of one is usually performed. • this “silly” behaviors include teasing of others, considerable wit and satire. • sometimes, a person doing this begins with stimulation, but with the arousal, their performances engender, and after being repeatedly poked, show actual startles and the phenomena which follow them.
