  1. Malaysia’s Gift to the World SAMPLE PORTFOLIO

  2. The main purpose of this portfolio is to enable the students to demonstrate that they understand what it means to be a responsible Netizen. Based on the concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’, students create projects that implement at least one of the 8 elements taught along with an overlaying theme(s) of their choice: • Malaysian Food • Culture/Heritage • Technology • Entertainment • Environmental • Health • Humanity • Academic • Merchandise • In short, every project has the following equation incorporated: • 1 Malaysia Concept + element(s) + theme(s) of their choice

  3. The portfolio comprises of blogs, videos, posters, poems and other creative projects that the students have come up with. Themed ‘by users for users’, all projects are uploaded to a portal created as a National Grid for Unity. This also serves as a bottom-up approach for 1 Malaysia via various touch points: • We expect to upload around 20% or 20,000 content per year. As incentive for the students, best projects will be given awards up to RM0.5 Million collectively. Examples of the awards are as such: • Best Digital Poster on 1 Malaysia • Best Blogs on Unity • Best short-video on Patriotism

  4. Title: The 1 Malaysia Spam Theme: Technology Description: This poster shows a typical Facebook photo album with a lot of spams underneath made by a single person. When a person posts numerous comments at a fast rate, Facebook detects it as spam and sends out a warning. The warning in the poster has been modified according to the theme of 1 Malaysia; linking it together with the fight against spam.   5. Title: Wanted Educators Theme: Academic Description: This is an advertisement for teacher educators who are pro 1 Malaysia and innovative in the usage of ICT. The person wanted in the advertisement wears a songkok, has a Chinese face and traditional costume as well as vermilion on the forehead to represent the 3 main races in Malaysia. Element Used: e-Literate Software Used: Photoshop CS3

Title: Right-Click & Save Theme: Malaysia Food Description: A screen capture of someone trying to save an image is turned into a type of inspirational poster stating that right-click and saving is the equivalent of theft.   7. Title: Be Careful What You Tweet! Theme: Technology Description: The visual of the 3 birds representing the 3 main races in Malaysia complements the poem below urging people to be careful what they tweet. Element Used: e-Interaction & Collaboration Software Used: Illustrator CS3

  8. Title: Comic Diaries Theme: Health Description: Comics are drawn and posted up in a blog in response to a certain topic by students of different races. It is exactly like a forum or a discussion board except in comic form. Here, the topic discussed is e-Care. Element Used: e-Care Software Used: Photoshop CS3

  9. Title: Impulsive Online Shopping – A “Disease” Theme: Merchandise Description: This is a statement T-shirt design. Impulsive online shopping is made to look like a disease here. Though somewhat funny, this T-shirt also shows that the battle against impulsive online shopping is very real to those addicted. Help from others is required. Unity is portrayed when people of different races wear this T-shirt.   10. Title: Accountability Badges for Shopping Addicts Theme: Merchandise Description: This set of badges is specially created for those who are battling the addiction to shop online. These badges are designed with rhetorical questions and simple statements encouraging the addicts to be accountable with the help of others.   11. Title: The Internet “Crisis” Theme: Technology Description: This humorous video shows people of different races getting angry and frustrated because they were disconnected from the Internet. At the end is a reminder to Malaysian youth that Internet access is actually a privilege, not a right as many assumed.
