Adjusting Image • Click on Image -> Adjustment • It has options • Brightness/Contrast to adjust brightness and contrast • Invert to make dark portions light and light portions dark • Posterize – For distorting the image. Lesser the value more the distortion • Curves – Automatically adjusting the contrast and brightness
Patterns • To define a pattern • Open a 5 X 5 document • Zoom to maximum size • Select a pencil tool with an appropriate brush size • Draw lines (horizontal or vertical or both) • Go to Edit Menu and select Define Pattern • Give a name for the pattern and click OK • To fill a pattern • Go to Edit Menu • Select Fill • Choose Pattern from the dropdown list and select the pattern from the list
Noise and distortions • Adding noise or distortions to the image modifies the appearance of the image • Go to Filter Menu and click Noise and then select Add Noise. Give the noise level. Higher the level more is the disturbances caused • We can also select Distortions under the same Filter Menu and can choose the type like Ocean waves, ripple etc.
Color Range • Photoshop allows us to select a range of color in an image • Open an image • Click on Select -> Color Range • Specify which color we need to select and give OK • Those portions in the image that satisfies the condition given will be selected and we can manipulate on the selection
Layers, Channels and Paths • Layers – Part of the image on which we can work independently without affecting the background. Any number of layers can be created and positioned above the background. • Paths – Similar to Layers. • Difference is that Changes made on the Path are visible if we click on the path. But changes made on the layer is visible if we move the layer. • Channels – Portions of image with similar color or shade are kept as a channel. We can also add new channel
Channels • Four basic channels • RGB (True picture) • Red – Picture with Red component alone • Green – Picture with Green component alone • Blue – Picture with Blue component alone • Alpha channels • We can select portions of image and create new channel from it • Select portion and right click and click Save Selection as and give a name and Click Save • Now in the channels palatte a new channel with the name Alpha 1 is seen
Animated GIF • Open an image • Duplicate the image as many number of times needed (In the layer tab, right click on the background (image) and select Duplicate layer) • Add different noise levels for each layer (Filter -> Noise -> Add Noise and give different value for the noise level)
Animated GIF • Switch to Image Ready (File -> Jump to Image Ready) • In the animation window, set the loop count and the delay for the frame • Duplicate the frame • In each frame make a particular layer visible (In Layers tab, on which ever layer we have Eye like icon, that layer is visible. Click on the eye icon to hide a layer. Again click on the place to show the hidden layer) • Click on Save optimized as from the File Menu, give a name and click OK.
Panorama • Panorama is a wider picture • We need to have images taken in and around the same area • Those images are copied in different layers of the same document • Move the layers appropriately to create a continuous but wide image
Publishing • The images are collected together and placed in a folder • Click on File -> Automate -> Web Photo Gallery • Choose the template for the gallery. • Fill all information needed • Click OK • An HTML page will be created • We can access those photos from HTML file
