  3. Slatina, the capital of the Olt County, is situated in the south of Romania and in the central part of the county, on the left side of the Olt River. The town has a population of almost 80 000 inhabitants.

  4. Dating for more than 650 years, the name of the town “Slatina” means “salt water” referring to the waters of the Olt River The Emblem of Slatina

  5. Nowadays Slatina is one of the most important cultural and economic centers of our country. It is an industrial town. Here you can find one of the greatest companies in the world S.C. ALRO S.A. which produces aluminium also used in making planes such as AIRBUS and BOEING.

Slatina is the native town of Eugen Ionescu, one of the famous writers and dramatists of the world, Ion Minulescu – poet, writer and journalist, Nicolae Titulescu – diplomat, Minister of the Foreign Affairs and president of the Nations League, Spiru Vergulescu – painter, Petre S. Aurelian – academician, economist, agronomist and politician, Felicia Filip – one of the greatest sopranos in the world.
