Committed to a Polio-Free World • The goal of the GPEI is the global certification of the eradication of polio. • Global certification of eradication will be reached whenall countriesdemonstratetheabsence of wild poliovirus transmissionforat leastthree consecutive yearsin the presence of excellent surveillance.

  6. Great Progress Against Polio 2010 • 1349 cases • 4 endemic countries: Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria 1985 • 350,000 cases • 125 countries
