Our Goal: Performance Task A performance task is a task that uses ones knowledge to effectively act or bring to fruition a complex product that reveals ones [understanding]. Understanding is revealed in performance [connected to real life] Understanding by Design: Wiggins and McTighe As a performance task For the seminar You will be creating A Combined BWI & UBD Unit. THIS IS Real life application For the teacher
5 Worldview Components • God’s Nature: Nature, Character and role of God. Who God is • Creation: Has to do with what is made and sustained by God in nature and the world around us • Mankind: Who and what humans are. How God made us and how we function best. • Moral Order: Has to do with moral behavior or responsibility. How God has designed right and wrong. • Purpose: Has to do with the intention or meaning of all that exists. Has God has created and designed things with purpose and intentionality.
UNIT STANDARDS: Examples Where we start: Basic Standards • Preschool / Kindergarten: The student will demonstrate an understanding of scientific inquiry, including the processes, skills, and mathematical thinking necessary to conduct a simple scientific investigation. • Elementary 1-4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the properties, movements, and locations of objects in the solar system. • Elementary: 5 & 6: The student will demonstrate through mathematical processesan understanding of the concepts of whole-number percentages, integers, and ratio and rate. • High School 7-10:The student will use word analysis and vocabulary strategies to read fluently.
STEP 2: BWI to UBD • We will now transfer our Biblically Integrated Established Goal to our Ubd Template and create big idea understandings for our unit.
