  2. The remaining 20% of pupils may attend different vocational secondary schools or private schools. Students need to take entrance exams for attending universities and colleges in Hungary. This is a very hard competition for secondary schools and for their pupils as well. There are private, religious, foundation, public and alternative schools in Hungary. My school is a public secondary grammar school (with ~560 pupils) (we have types of classes too; those marked by „A” are 8grade-classes (age: 10-18); classes marked B,C,D are 4grade-classes, (age: 14-18)) 1.   3. 2. FACTSSince 1992 (the first year for 8grade classes) the results got better and better, owing to the possibility to choose pupils and the long term. Average school achievements Granted Future

  5. 2.3. Mathematical results improve year by year, and the avarage school achievements (fig.1) are higher in every year than the mathematical results. Average mathematical achievements Granted Future

ACTS • In addition to 14-18 year-old pupils we teach 10-18 year-old of age pupils as well. • Our pupils are selected by entrance exams (maths and Hungarian language and Literature) • Our pupils are diagnosed at age of 14 (maths), at age of 16 (maths and languages) • We teach maths and foreign languages in small groups (~15 pupils) • Teachers are diagnosed every year • There are many traditionally good competitions (local-, nation-, and worldwide): KöMal (www.komal.hu) ABACUS (www.gcschool.org/abacus.html) Gordiusz (www.extra.hu/gordiusz-matek/) Kangaroo (www.zalamat.hu/) Granted Future
