  1. TIDVG damage: possible MKD system errors?

  2. Possible kicker “faults” • MKDV missing • MKDH missing • MKDV flashover • MKDV reduced operating voltage • Q20 optics… …Since 2006 there have been a lot of faults and configuration changes! Missing some key logging data for easy analysis (details like MKD voltage, for instance)

  3. MKDV kicker erratics • 23/11/2012, 00:30 00.30 MKD system triggering before trigger signal and dumping beam before extraction. MKDV 3 showing signs of erratics at BA1 and saw 5 erratics on the counter. Further erratics and persistant problem as before. 9 erratics stopped system.

  4. MKDV kicker erratics • 10/06/2008, 17:42 The problem of intermittent complete beam loss after injection seems to be caused by the beam dump kicker triggering straight after injection. Etienne Carlier was called and he confirms that it seems to be some crosstalk from the injection kicker to the beam dump kicker trigger. He is investigating further.

  5. MKDV kicker erratics/vacuum activity • 04-14/06/2009 We contact Kiker piquet for MKD problem, Etienne Carlier informed us that switch1 of MKDV is giving several eratic and probably need to be change before night.  Same problem again with MKDV. There is vacuum activity, although we do not dump. It is in the CNGS beam rthat creates the pressure rise, mostly in MKDV1 that was changed during the shutdown.

  6. MKDV feedthrough broken • 03/11/2011, 03:41 The problem seems to be more serious, L. Ducimetiere informed us that the team discovered a "traverse haute tension" burned. We contact vacuum piquet to put sector 135 between VVSB_11699 and VVSB_11740 (MKDV) vacuum sector to atmospheric presure. Subsequent to this, it looks like we ran with lower MKDV voltage (at least for a while)

  7. MKDV flashovers • 02/09/2006 SPS LSS1 MKDV#1 vertical beam dump kicker breakdown. (16th Breakdown during the 2006 SPS run of this kicker magnet! Now one every half a week). Vacuum spike (1.3E-5): NO ACTIVE VACUUM INTERLOCKS! Manual interlocks reset. TPG300 vacuum gages re-checked with vacuum piquet specialist. Reset interlocks on MKDV#1 gage A1#1 to 5E-7 downwards and 1E-6 upwards (similar to those on gage A1#4). This should result in having an active vacuum interlock at the next magnet breakdown failure. Reconditioned MKDV#1 vertical beam dump kicker magnet in local

  8. Still quite some detective work to do – also can we agree on what signature to look for in logged data • Vacuum in TIDVG/MKP? • BLM 119/120 signals • Others?
