  1. The Peninsula Post March 2012 From the President’s desk: The festival of colours “Holi” celebrated across the country brings together everyone in vibrant mood. It is a major turning point in the calendar and seasons. Thailand celebrates its New Year from 13th to 15th April with the Water Festival called “Songkran” similar to our Holi festival. We wish everyone a colourful year ahead. The month started with a Seminar on Legal Literacy – “Consumer Rights” with ShriVivekPatki who highlighted that our rights as consumer start right from conception i.e. 9 months before we are born! Renowned management trainer Shri Sunil Parekh educated us on the several layers of the mind and how we can use the latent power of the mind to enhance effectiveness. Cdr DilipDonde of Indian Navy shared his experiences of “Solo Circumnavigating the Globe” in sail boat. Members were awe struck to hear them. We hosted Asst. Governor Rtn Jayesh Vidhani during the 3rd Club Assembly and Pre-OCV meeting. The young and dynamic governor reviewed club records and activities and made constructive suggestions. Our club hosted 3 inbound VTT (GSE) team members from Austria/Serbia from 3rd to 5th March. Kudos to PE Anil Jain, PP Nilesh Shah and Director (Club Admin) Anup Taparia for hosting them. Their experience was great and encourages more such international service activities in our club. We invite all members and spouses to register and join the RI Convention at Bangkok from 6th to 9th May 2012. The invite from RIP KalyanBanerjee is given in this Post. Our current team leading the club has initiated several projects and activities for community service and fellowship. Now we shall soon host the District Governor Rtn Vijay Jalan at the forthcoming “Official Club Visit (OCV)” on Thursday, 12th April 2012. I urge all members and spouses to be present at this formal meeting in formal wear. This meeting goes to create the impression of the club with the District Governor. Lets make it happen. Jay Toshniwal President

  2. RIP Kalyan Banerjee’s message: Dear Rotarian: Please accept my personal invitation to join me and our fellow Rotarians in Bangkok, Thailand, 6-9 May 2012, for the 103rd Rotary International Convention — an incredible event in one of the world’s most fascinating cities. Thailand is a spectacular destination, truly the Land of a Thousand Smiles. I would particularly urge Rotarians who have never visited Asia before to consider this your chance. Bangkok is a fantastic gateway to explore Southeast Asia and a wonderful experience on its own for a shorter trip. For those who hail from countries closer by, take the opportunity for a great getaway — with all the dining, shopping, and sightseeing opportunities of a major cultural capital. Indeed, for those who have been there already, you know that you can never get enough of Bangkok. But the best reason to visit Bangkok, of course, will be the Rotary convention itself: the highlight of the Rotary calendar and an opportunity not to be missed. All through the year, we reach out to Rotary communities across the globe. At the convention, we have the chance to see all those communities represented in one place — to hear all the languages, see all the people, and learn about all the projects of the past year. Nothing brings home the internationality of Rotary like a Rotary convention, and nothing else has the same power to inspire. Every year, I go to the RI Convention excited to see old friends and make new ones, to celebrate our successes and learn from our experience. And every year, I leave with a sense of pride in Rotary, eager to continue my commitment to Rotary. This year promises to be the best convention yet. I urge you to register now and to begin planning for our 103rd Rotary International Convention in Bangkok! Kalyan Banerjee RI President 2011-12
