FALL TERM SCHEDULE • Fall Break October 13-17, 2014 • Professional Week: September 29-October 3, 2014 • First day of classes: September 8, 2014 Tentative
Police Vulnerable Sector Check • You will need a PVSC for both your Alternative Placement and regular Placements. • Begin the process of obtaining a police check by Monday August 18, 2014. Do Not Start Any Earlier!!!!! • Deadline for receiving PVSC: Friday December 12, 2014.
PROFESSIONAL WEEK • A week dedicated to providing teacher candidates with the opportunity to learn more about the Federations, OCT and other professional organizations important to their teaching career. • Learn more from Faculty in 20 and 40 minute toolbox sessions: Communicating with Parents, Supply Teaching, 10 Tips To A Good Interview etc. • Classes will not run during this week. • It is mandatory for students to participate. • We can look into accommodations. Transportation is the responsibility of the students.
PRACTICUM • Alternative Placement or Regular Placement January 12-February 6, 2015 (four weeks) • Practice Teaching Blocks February 9-27, 2015(three weeks) March 2- April 17, 2014(six weeks) • Will be requesting a placement in both divisions • It is crucial that students not go behind the scenes to look for a placement for themselves. PLEASE be patient.
PRACTICUM CONT’D • During term two you will not be required to come to campus for formal classes. • You will be invited to attend the Education Job Fair usually scheduled the end of January. You will be given permission to miss this one day of your placement.
PRACTICUM CONT’D • In September you will be able to apply for International placement. • International placements are normally for three weeks. • The opportunity to participate is not guaranteed. • We will provide students with information in September and discuss how to apply.
NEXT STEPS… • Will receive Board Choice Form and Placement Information Form at our next meeting in March (TBD). • You will indicate interest in an International placement on the Board Choice Form. • You will complete Placement Information by signing and dating the form. Return both forms to Sandra Minor by Monday April 14, 2014
