  2. History 2002: Task force created by Secretary of Transport to address 63 KNVvL issues. Political mandate to reduce cost within administrative bodies and to simplify rules and regulations. Self-regulation key. Lead to discussion to allow NAC to perform licensing. KNVvL goal: self-regulate non-powered and Annex-II A/C AOPA-NL disagreed with powered Annex-II A/C. Knowledge made mandatory with non-powered A/C. 2004: KNVvL started KNVvL Examination Institute based on recognition from NAA. KNVvL

  5. Facts October 2004 - October 2005: Issued 114 new Glider Pilot Licenses Renewed approx. 2000 GPLs (half of all license holders) Issued 1186 Medicals Sustained effort 0.3 fte. License first issue €62,50. License renewal €15. Non-members pay €15 handling fee. ICAO Medical typically less then €90 - yields 99% approvals. Currently working on Hang-Gliding and Para-Sailing licenses. KNVvL

Glider Pilot License KNVvL Validation: The Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management of the Netherlands has declared that this license has been issued in accordance with art. 33 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. This license has been issued in accordance with the provisions of Annex I to the Conventions on International Civil Aviation signed at Chicago on the 7th of December 1944. The privileges of this license shall be exercised only if the holder has a valid medical certificate issued by the state or under responsibility of the KNVvL. A legal identification document has to be carried for the purpose of identification of the license holder.

  9. Opinion: Sport Pilot License vs Recreational Pilot License Value of term Sport is perceived higher then Recreational. Sport can be performed for Recreation or Profession. When we fly for recreation we still perform a sport: As soon as you measure achievement, you potentially perform a sport. If you compare measurements you can perform a competitive sport. Sport is bound to rules. Aviation is bound to a complex set of rules. We must measure and apply rules to fly safely. Personal wellbeing is a primary goal of sport. Pilot log represents sports achievements which can be recognized by the FAI. Europe Air Sports should therefore pursue a European Sports Pilot License. KNVvL
